Eating Disorder Recovery Group
This therapeutic group provides support for members who have a history of binge/purge behavior, or restricting their food intake, and/or who are struggling to gain or maintain a healthy weight. Weight recovery/maintenance is a goal, but the group also addresses body image, perfectionism, control, dependence versus autonomy, relationships, and assertiveness. A typical session might include discussion of food fears, environmental triggers, the function of symptoms, feelings, and goal-setting for the following week.
The group is open to men and women (ages 18 and up) who are also addressing the above issues in individual therapy. Members are at a variety of points in the recovery process, which allows members to benefit from others' motivation, observations, and experience. An initial individual meeting is required prior to joining the group.
