David Byrnes, MD
Dr. Byrnes completed his undergraduate work at Duke University and attended Medical School at the University of South Carolina. After receiving a Medical Degree and deciding to pursue further specialization in Psychiatry, he was accepted into the University of Virginia General Psychiatry Residency. During Residency training Dr. Byrnes experienced working in multiple clinical areas including Pediatric and Adult Neurology, Emergency Medicine, Toxicology, Endocrinology, and Internal Medicine. Dr. Byrnes finished the General Psychiatry program and was accepted into a two-year Fellowship (sub-specialization) program, also at the University of Virginia, focusing exclusively on children and family Psychiatry where he was given the honor of being named Chief Fellow. He is board certified in the specialty of Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Byrnes has experience treating all psychiatric disorders in children, adolescents and adults. These include, but are not limited to, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity disorder, Autism, Pervasive Developmental disorders, Anxiety, Depression, Oppositional Defiant disorder, Bipolar disorder, and Psychotic disorders.
