Cheryl K. Cottrell, M.S., LPC
Cheryl is a licensed professional counselor, with over fifteen years of experience working in the mental health field. She received her Master's Degree in Rehabilitative Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University, Medical College of Virginia and her Bachelors from James Madison University. Her main focus of clinical experience is working with children, adolescents and families. She uses a child-centered approach and integrates a variety of play therapy interventions and techniques, depending on her client's strength and need. She has experience working with anxiety, depression, learning disorders, trauma, family issues, autism spectrum disorders (high school level), attention deficit hyperactive disorder, gender issues, and adjustment issues. Cheryl recently completed training in play therapy and is now working on required supervision to become a registered play therapist. She is a National Certified Counselor, a member of the American Counselor Association and a member of the Association for Play Therapy.
